Starting a website can sometimes be a daunting process. We walk you through the entire process start to finish. Having a tailored site that meets your needs can be key to your business’ success.

The Process

It starts with an idea. As more businesses understand the importance of a solid presence on the web, there are usually ways to make improvements to existing sites and create brand new sites from the ground up. Either way, we involve you in every step of the process.

Building a website from scratch means coming up with a design. We work together with you and incorporate your wants and needs into a series of images that will one day represent your live site. We meet with you to get an understanding of your business, your customers and your competition. We put together a ‘mock up’ of what your site could look like and present that to you for your feedback. We make changes based on a two-way conversation to ensure that your needs are met and we’re capturing your ideas correctly.

Once you have agreed on a look and feel for your site, we begin developing your website. There are some other factors that need to be discussed before getting your site live on the web.

  1. Domain Name (e.g. www.victoriawebsolutions.com) – you need to have a name that is all yours. This is done by registering a domain name either through an authorized Registrar or through your web hosting company (see next bullet).
  2. Find a web hosting company. This is the company that will host your files and make your site available on the web. Depending on your preferences and location, you may wish to choose a local company or a company you have experience with.
  3. Host package. Typically you can expect to pay around $100.00 a year for your hosting package. If you purchase a domain name along with a hosting package, this can save you some money in the long run. Some companies that we have used are Lunar Pages (California), HostPapa (Canada), Uniserve (Canada)

So once we have a design that you are happy with, the domain name and hosting packages, we can start converting your design to the web.

We will take care of all the technical details to ensure things are working, set up email accounts and statistics for your pages (so you can see how many visitors you are getting), set up your Facebook fan pages, Twitter accounts and any other form of social media that you wish to pursue and launch you new or updated website.

We will continue to make subtle changes or fix any errors right away. Once you are completely satisfied, we send you on your way to market your business and direct your customers to your new pages. We will always be available for consultation for any of your future needs or questions.
